The Raikas were a pastoral community of a pastoral group of Rajasthan.
¶ Since the rainfall in their region was uncertain and the harvests fluctuated every year, they combined cultivation with pastoralism.
• During the month of June, they stayed in their home villages, due to presence of pastures.
• By October, these lands would have dried and they moved to some other region.
• One group of Raikas known as the 'Maru' Raikas herded Camel, and another group herded sheep and goat.
