The Raikas were a pastoral community of a pastoral group of Rajasthan.
Since the rainfall in their region was uncertain and the harvests fluctuated every year, they combined cultivation with pastoralism.
During the month of June, they stayed in their home villages, due to presence of pastures.
By October, these lands would have dried and they moved to some other region.
One group of Raikas known as the 'Maru' Raikas herded Camel, and another group herded sheep and goat.
