San culottes was the common mam of France in 18th century.He was a great man who became radical and militant of French revolution in response to poor quality of life under the ancien Regime.

Jacobin club was one of the most famous political club. Most of its members belonged to the less prosperous sections of the society.
A large group among them decided to start wearing long striped trousers.This was to set themselves apart from the nobles who were knee breeches. This was also a way of proclaiming the end of the power of the wearers of knee breeches .
These Jacobins came to be known as San culottes literally meaning 'those without knee breeches
