In 1871, government passed the criminal
tribe act. Once these force came into force,
these communities which were nomadic ,
now expected to live only in notified village
setelment.vThey were not allowed to move
out without a permit.
THey do so because
1. The colonial govt want to rule over a
setteled population. Such a population that
is easy to identify and control
2.Those who were setteled were seen
peaceable and law abinding and nomadics
were considered poor
3. By this act manny communities of
craftsmen, trades were classified as
criminal tribes
