the vijayanagar empire was established by two brothers- Harikara and Bukka Rai in 1336.They were feudators of the Kakatiyas of Warangal. When the kingdomof Warangal was overrun by Ghiyas-ud-din Tughluq,in 1323,the brothers shifted base to Kampili. Here they entered into the service of the local rulers. when the Tughluqs conquered Kampili, the brothers were taken captive.They were later sent to South India to crush the rebellions there. After some time, they rebelled against Muhammad-bin Tughluq and declared their independence. They built Vijayanagar an made it their capital.
