Humanists were those people who wanted and worked towards a revival of the classical era. They thought that their way of life was perfect and tried to restore their writings, forms of art and even the Latin language. They were largely opposed to the scholastics and thought that "the arts" was a necessary part of education. Some key Renaissance figures were the artists Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello an important physician and poet was Fracastoro.They believed that people had the right to think and learn for themselves
