Robert Clive bribed Mir Jafar, the commander in chief of the Nawab's army, and also promised him to make him Nawab of Bengal. He defeated the Nawab at Plassey in 1757 and captured Calcutta. The Battle was preceded by the attack on British-controlled Calcutta by Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah and the Black Hole massacre.

The battle of Plassey:-
the battle was a deviced victory of the British East India company over the Bengal nawab.
The major participants of the battle of Plassey were British general Robert Clive and Bengal nawab Siraj-ud-daulah.
One of the nawabs minister named Mir Zafar signed a pact with Robert Clive so as to defeat Siraj in the battle and in return the kingdom would be handed to Mir Zafar.
So this was all about it....
