Sufis are first and foremost Muslims. Sufis are a diverse group, and as such, it is difficult to state conclusively what “Sufis" believe. Still, there are some elements that most Sufis have in common:

The vast majority of Sufis are Muslims.

There are non-Muslim Sufis, but ninety-nine times out of a hundred, when somebody says “Sufism", they mean Sufi Islam.

They tend to live very ascetic, simple lives. This is so they can focus more intensely on worshipping Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala).
