France and Britain were two European powers fighting over control of Southern Africa and other than these two the major powers in Europe that competed for the control of Africa were Britain, France, and Germany and the powers that were weaker powers were Spain, Portugal and Italy.
The weaker powers had very small possessions in Africa where as Britain and France were in the major control of Africa.
