Home Rule movement was organized in April and September 1916, sequentially, by Indian nationalist Bal Gangadhar Tilak and social reformer Annie Besant.
The Home rule movement was the attempts of Indian nationalists to obtain self-rule from the British administration.
Bal Gangadhar Tilak founded his political association in Poona, Maharastra, to mobilise the population about achieving Independence in western India, and Besant established her base at Madras for assembling common opinion by nonviolent means in favor of self-government.
