Lord Ullin's daughter and the Scottish chieftain, who was the chief of Ulva, wanted to cross Lochgyle.

The river was in a very fierce and stormy condition but still they wanted to cross it to escape the wrath of Lor Ullin.

Initially, the chieftain requested a boatman to help them cross Lochgyle and also offered him a silver pound for it which the boatman refused.

But when Lord Ullin's daughter requested the boatman, he couldn't refuse her because he was taken aback by her beauty.

When Lord Ullin finally reached the banks of Lochgyle, all his anger melted as he saw his daughter being caught in the deep waters.

But by, then, it was too late and the boat capsized with all the three people on it.
