Hola !
Liquids are generally two categories:
- Miscible
- Immiscible
>>>> Immiscible liquids don't dissolve in each other.
Eg: Oil and water.
Seperation of Immiscible liquids is simply done by using a funnel.
>>>> Miscible liquids are harder to separate as they dissolve in each other.
Eg: Alcohol and water
Seperation of Miscible liquids is done by using fractional distillation, because Miscible liquids have different boiling points.
Note: This difference (of boiling point of liquids) should be more than 20° - 25° C so that the fractional distillation can be done.
Also the separation depends on the boiling points of the two liquids, which is carried by using a fractionating column.
