The Australian Open 2019 quarter-finals began today with the bottom half playing their matches in the men's and women's singles.

Without further ado, let's take a look at what transpired on the courts of Melbourne Park throughout the day:

To kick things off on Rod Laver Arena, Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas, who upset Roger Federer in the previous round, took on Roberto Bautista Agut, who was on a nine-match win streak since the beginning of the year.

The 20-year-old youngster continued his fine run of form and did not disappoint as he snapped Bautista Agut's win streak and became the first man from Greece to reach the Australian Open semi-finals. He was down a break in the early stages of the first three sets and apart from the second set, which he lost, he managed to fight back and win the other two. The fourth set went on serve till the very end and Tsitsipas won the match in the tie-break. The scoreline was 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) in favour of Tsitsipas.

He will now take on 17-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal in the first semi-final on Thursday. Nadal had an easy outing against USA's Frances Tiafoe. Apart from a few minor hiccups here and there, it was a relatively straightforward victory for the Spaniard in straight sets. The scoreline was 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in favour of Nadal.
