The Mahabharata was won by the Pandavas after Duryodhan’s death. But Dronacharya’s son Ashwatthama tried to kill the Pandavas and his grandchildren who were in the stomach of there mother Utara. But later lord Krishna stopped him and cursed him that he will be alive till the end of kalyuga which is the present yuga and is the most cursed one of all the four yugas and always be in pain and sadness. Gandhari, the mother of the Kauravas cursed lord Krishna that all his children will also die fighting with each other. She gave this curse as she knew that if lord Krishna wanted then he could have stopped the war. Later on Yudhisthira, the eldest of the Pandavas was crowned as the king of Hastinapur and Bheem became the Yuvraj. People say that Ashwatthama is still alive because of lord Krishna’s curse and some sites on internet also say that there were some incidences of some people meeting him.

Hope this helps you
