According to many scientists, the egg came first. But the twist is that the egg was not of the chicken!
The egg was of some other bird which when hatched, produced the very first chicken, which grew to be hen. This phenomenon is called as genetic mutation. Just like humans have their roots in ape, the hen has their roots in some other birds. Apes were genetically mutated and thus, humans were formed. Similarly, the bird's egg undergone genetic mutation and thus, the chicken came.

Dinosuars lay eggs and chickens hatch from eggs so from thousands of generations of mutation, the chicken would have been formed. However, due to the chicken hatching from an egg, the chicken egg would have come first.
