When the task of writing the Constitution was handed over to him, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had asked him his fee.

Raizada, a graduate of St. Stephens, said, “I have everything that I need, so I won’t charge a penny. All I desire is that I be allowed to write my name on every page of the Constitution and the name of my grandfather along with mine on the last page.”

His wish was granted and Prem Bihari Raizada began writing in his own hand what would define the character of India.
