Who wrote National Anthem of Bangladesh
Answers
Tagore never wrote anthem for Bangladesh, but one of his composition was adopted as anthem later.
Hon’bl Rabindranath Tagore was born in 1861 and breathed his last in 1941, in pre partition era when India comprised present day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
During colonial rule, British tried all tactics to divide India on the basis of caste, religion and language. It was during the reign of Lord Curzon, the Bengal state of India (present day Bangladesh and state of West Bengal) was partitioned to suppress growing nationalistic emotions among the masses against British Rule in 1905.
People observed mourning, tied “rakhi” (a protection thread as a sign of bonding to each other), observed fast to protest partition. In addition to these patriotic songs and hymns were sung in praise of Benagl, one such being written by Tagore, Amar Sonar Bangla (Our Golden Bengal) to signify unity among people of Bengal. It also pays ode to Mother Bengal. Though Bengal was reunited in 1911, but the damage was already done.
Decades later when Bangladesh became a separate country in 1971, it was adopted as National anthem for the country.
Hope it helps you :)
