Who wrote the spirit of laws and what was the message given through that?

The Spirit of the Laws is a treatise on political theory, as well as a pioneering work in comparative law, published in 1748 by Charles de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu. He proposed a division of power within the government b/w the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judiciary.
