The wholesaler is responsible to buy goods in bulk from the manufacturer and sell it to retailers in small quantities in order to carry out business. It also bridges the gap between the retailer and the manufacturer as the manufacturer cannot directly contact the small retailers who are spread throughout the country.

Explanation:

  • A wholesaler is a middleman between the manufacturer and the retailer in the distribution system.
  • He purchases goods from the manufacturer and provides it to the retailer who is the final seller for the consumer.
  • He purchases the items in bulk at a low price from the manufacturer and after adding the profit margins, sell it to the retailer at price less than market price in order to make a profit.
