ANSWER:

President Allende of Chile, addressed his last speech to the people of Chile, mainly workers on the 11th of September at around 9.10 am over radio.

EXPLANATION:

This speech was delivered at around 9:10 am on the 11th of September 1973, in the midst of an eventually successful US-sponsored military rebellion against the democratically-elected Chilean govt. President Allende addressed the Chilean people, mainly the workers since he was a socialist and had made many policy decisions to aid the workers and the poor. President Allende was also opposed to foreign corporations extracting natural resources such as copper from the nation. He effected the policy of the re-distribution of land to landless agrarians and free milk and free education for the poor children.

The rich, the military, the church, the landlords including the US govt. opposed Allende’s policies and were not happy with Allende’s rule for supporting the poor.   President Allende made his speech through radio when he was killed by military forces who opposed Allende’s rule and wanted him to either resign or leave the nation which Allende refused. Realising the danger to the nation Allende gave his last speech to the Chilean people over radio clearly indicating his death. Allende was a true patriot and was confident in his speech that grand opportunities would be opened for Chile and the nation would one day move towards establishing better society.
