Greed,selfishness and the exploitative nature of the modern technology are responsible for the resource depletion according to Gandhiji because :

The resources lies in the hands of few and their benefits does not reach to the needy.

Their indiscriminate use causes environmental degradation,and will lead to their scarcity which will result into suffering of  the future generation and their life will face problems in their absence.
