Dara Shikoh was the eldest son of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. His mother was Mumtaz Mahal. He was the ‘eldest son’ and the heir to the throne. He was also the brother of Aurangzeb.  

Dara was defeated by his ‘younger brother Aurangzeb’ for the fight to the throne. Dara was a liberal Muslim in comparison to his brother. After a few years he was executed by Aurangazeb on the orders of his brother.
