The Gupta empire was founded in 320AD by Chandragupta I. Cahndragupta called himself Maharajadhiraja which means '"The great king of kings".
He was married to "Kumaradevi of Licchavi gana and they both had a son whom they named Samudragupta. Samudragupta also used the title of his father and called himself Maharajadhiraja.
