FCI stands for Food Corporation of India. It helps in distribution of food grains as it:

1) Purchases grains at reasonable price from the farmers.

2) Sell them to the poor at cheaper rates.

3) This involves the term MSP (Minimum Support Price).

4) This helps the farmers to attain employment.

5) The rate of purchasing the grains from the farmers is finalled at the time of sowing the seeds.
