force is a push or pull which changes or tends to to change the state of rest or of uniform motion, direction of motion, or the shape and size of a body.

  • force has a magnitude as well as a direction. So, force is a vector quantity.

there are two systems of units of force:

  1. Absolute Unit Of force
  2. gravitational unit of force.

Classification of Forces :

Force can be classified into the following two classes :

  • Contact Force = the contact forces represent the result of physical contact between two object, one by which force is exerted and the other on which force is exerted. Pulling of a cart and kicking of a football are some examples of contact forces.
  • Action-at-a-distance force : this force is also known as non contact force point the force which do not involve physical contact between the two object but act through the space between the two is called action- at- a-distance force.
