the path of a satellite which orbits the earh in the same direction as the rotation of the earh so that it stays above the same place on the surface all the time ....period of 24 hours *....

The satellite which appears stationary relative to earth is called geostationary or geosynchronous satellite, communication satellite. Such satellite appears stationary due to its zero relative velocity with regard to that place on earth. The orbit of a geostationary satellite is called parking orbit.
