In 1980, Poland was going through a massive political crisis.Poland was under the rule of Polish United Workers' Party. It was a Communist Party. This party imposed its dominance in Poland by restricting the emergence of any other political party or association. The Polish people were forced to vote for this party only. They were denied to speak freely against their leader and if they tried to do so,they were imprisoned. The employment conditions were also pathetic. The workers were not allowed to form any trade associations for promoting their demands.

The memoir of Poland from 1945 to 1989 measures the period of Soviet dominance and communist rule forced after the conclusion of World War II over Poland, as restored inside new borders. These years, while emphasizing global industrialization and urbanization and many developments in the pattern of living, were destroyed by cultural confusion, civic strife, and difficult financial challenges.

Near to the conclusion of World War II, the advancing Soviet Red Army propelled out the Nazi German troops from occupied Poland. A substantially dominated communist Government of National Unity was established in Warsaw by neglecting the Polish government-in-exile whose head office was at London since 1940.
