why 1/2 is considered polynomial when 1/x is not (assume as if the value of x is 2 here but not given (just assume if 2 could be the x).


I need the basic definition of polynomials, why something is called polynomial​

Poly means many

so if the power of equation is +ve and of NY degree it is called polynomial

Actually 1/x is a polynomial as well. I don't know where u read that it is not. A polynomial is a combination of constants, variables and mathematical operations without an equal to (=) sign.
