1)Any variable don't has any negative power.

2) Fractional power is also not allow.

3)any variable is not a denominator of any fraction.

Here given term is  \frac{1}{x - 1}  =  {(x - 1)}^{ - 1}

Here power of variable is negative.

So,given term is not a polynomial.

Otherwise, here variable is denominator of a fraction.

So,by this condition we can say it is not a polynomial.
