Inert gases are highly stable .. Ionisation energy refers to the energy required to remove an electron from the outer shell , such a removal would make the inert gases have an unstable configuration .. It is due to this stability of the noble gases that their ionisation energy is extremely large , Larger than all other elements of the periodic table infact .
