24 carat good is pure gold.They are very soft and are not suitable for making jewelleries.

Therefore in jewelleries it alloyed with copper or silver to make it hard ,18 carat gold is prepared by alloying

18 parts pure gold with 6 part of either copper or silver .In jewelleries 18 carat gold is used instead of 24 carat pure gold
