It is because of its capacity of holding electrons .

ICSEuser: No thanks
Anonymous: who is here talking with me .......please tell me
ICSEuser: What is happening here
Ashishmalik: frnd according to Bohr if you want find electron u can use his formula 2(n)square .. where n is no of orbit
ICSEuser: Can anyone please answer me
Ashishmalik: hope it will helps u
Anonymous: Yes ....I will

You can calculate this by using the formula 2n2. The second shell can fit a maximum of 2×(2)2=8. Thus the second shell can fit only eight electrons

ICSEuser: therfore when you put 2 in place of n in the formula you get 8 which is the capacity
ICSEuser: Did you get it
ICSEuser: Ok
Ashishmalik: ohhh plzz answer me of my next question
