In our India as there are many longitudes passing through ,each place will have different time zone's hence they have different time. But due to the difference in time travellers or some one feel problematic to go to other places. Hence to avoid this we Indians allotted a standard meridian time for India which is 5.5 hours from the London (prime meridian). Hence as 82°30' is mid longitude we chosen it.
