ANSWER

(a+b)²= a²+2ab+b²

Why?

Now, squaring of a number/variable means multiplying it with itself.

Now,

(a+b)²= (a+b)(a+b)

=a(a+b)+b(a+b)

= a²+ab+ab+b²

=a²+b²+2ab

when we apply this identity we only skip the above calculation thats why it is called a identity/formula in order to save time.
