When iron is dipped in CuSO4 a displacement reaction takes place. In this, iron being a more reactive metal displaces a lesser reactive metal Copper(Cu) from its compound to form FeSO4.
Fe + CuSO4 --- FeSO4 + Cu
The green coloured solution is Ferrous sulphate(FeSO4) which is taken from iron
