why a compound like Carbon di oxide chemical formulae is written as Co² not Oc²

write first less electronegative element first then more electronegative

because the valency of carbon is 4 and that of oxygen is 2 and by Criss cross method the formula obtained will be CO2 it can also be written as o2c but generally electronegative element is written on the right side
