why a lighted splint burn explosively in a jar full of pure oxygen but burn slowly in air

Answer:

Because in a jar full of oxygen, the oxygen is packed together in the jar providing much amount of the oxygen surrounding the splint and in air oxygen is not packed all together.. It moves away. Therefore, in air it burns slowly.
