why a match stick does not catch fire at its own in room temperature?

match does not burn on its own because the temperature is less then the ignition temperature. on  stricking on the wall of the match box, sufficient amount of heat is produced due to friction which is produced due to the friction which raises the ignition temperature of the chemical on the match stick and therefore burns
