Answer:

People, by their nature, need to do things that are painful to others. We have to LEARN the tools to overcome the inner desire to be cruel and mean. It come from our need to belong. In the world of belonging, there are always the “others” from our “us”. Therefore, people who do not have any self-control(these days we raise our children to be “individuals”, so they can be rather spoiled and insensitive until they grow up a little) will get involved with the activities of justifying their US while degrading the THEM. As time goes on, we can only hope that they learn that way of thinking is hurtful, and they begin to learn some empathy for the THEM in the world. Then, maybe they can do away with the US/THEM thing once and for all.

When I was 50 years old, I had thought THEM were responsible for everything wrong in my life. But, finally, someone came into my life and showed me a way out of the poison of that way of thinking. The gift they gave me was Christianity. I finally began to learn why everyone is so different. And why some people are cruel, nice, or indifferent. That provided me an opportunity to see the world from an objective perspective so that I can learn what are the BIG PICTURE truths about people.

It freed me from SUCH a world of bondage to the garbage that comes from ignorance about people as a whole.

Praise the Lord. I spent 42 years in prison because I was such a mess. Now, I was paroled on June 7, 2016 and now I am finishing my first semester in college with at least a B average. Who would have thought??? :)
