A person is hit harder when he falls on a hard floor than when he falls on a heap off sand from the same height because a hard floor can't deform its shape while as heap of sand can change/ splits so man hurts less.

Answer: It depends on the type of surface

Explanation: Eventhough the person has fallen from same height in both the cases but he hit harder in first case because of the surface. A heap of sand is smooth and happens nothing when fallen from a greater height. Hence, it depends on the type of surface on which he fell.
