Answer:

because motion is always defined by reference point. when person is sitting in car at that time co passenger is also sitting in a car so they can watch each other and their reference point also do not change with respect to each other.

A person who is travelling in a car with a co-passenger appears to be at rest because -

• The existence of the motion of a body is completely a relative thing because it's dependent on the spectator's spectating medium.

• If the medium on which the spectator is currently situated is stationary, then the motion of an object will be visible to the spectator.

• But,if the spectator is situated in the moving object and moving with the moving object and rest of the outer environment is stationary. Then the illusion will be observed by the spectator that he/she is stationary but the external environment is moving backwards than the direction of his/her motion.
