Why a single discount of 25% is better offer than or two successive discount of 20% and 5%?

Let the price of an object be X. Now we are giving a 25% discount on this object. Which means x-(25/100)X=(3/4)X
Now again take the same object and give 20% off you will get 4/5x.
Now from this 4/5x deduct 5% of 4/5x. you will be left with 19/25x Compare it with 3/4x that is 76/100x >75/100. So a customer benefits from the first offer rather than the second.
