Alternating Current | Direct Current
- Several reasons, but the biggest advantage that AC has over DC is the ability to change the voltage simply. For long transmission lengths, you want a very high voltage, as loss is proportional to the amount of current flowing through the wire. The higher the voltage, the less current for the same power.
