accelaration due to gravity is always downwards because even if a body is moving upwards, force due to gravity is still downwards and pulling it down... Counter accelerations are always opposite to the primary acceleration field...

ur question is incorrect.
Aceeleration due to gravity is always towards the center of the object which is producing this acceleration to any other object.
It may be against or for the motion.
