why Acetylene formula is C2H2

Valency of C is 4
Valency of Hydrogen is 1

And when we make formula
we interchange the valencies.

So it should be CH4
But it isn't....Why????Give a valid and proper reason

Answer:

in c2h2 there are three covalent bond

between the two carbon atom, and there is a covalent bond between each carbon and it attract hydrogen atom .. in c2h2 all the atoms are covalently bonded with each other as .. so the valency of carbon and hydrogen doesn't matter as the electrons are not being shared or accepted ....
