Why acid not show its character in absence of water

Explanation:

The acid do not show acidic behaviour in absence of water because there is no production of ions ..Acid are any inorganic and organic compound with hydrogen atom....so, they disscoate into ions easily in the" polar solvent" such as water ....the acidic behaviour show in presence of water.........

The acidic behaviour of acids is due to the presence of hydrogen ions ( H+ ions ) in them .

The acid produces hydrogen ions only in the presence of water .

So in the absence of water , an acid will

not form hydrogen ions and hence will

not show acidic behaviour .
