The industries near Taj Mahal emit sulphur and nitrogen oxides
These gases react with water vapour in the air and fall along with the rain forming Acid rain. The acid corrodes the marble and causes marble cancer. The yellowing and the corrosion of the marble is a major threat to the beauty of the Taj Mahal.
