why acids do not show acidic behaviour in absence of water?​

The acidic behaviour of acid is due to presence of hydrogen ions, H+(aq) ions. The acid produce hydrogen ion only on dissolving in water. In absence of water ,acid do not produce hydrogen ions and hencedo not show acidic behaviour.
