Adrenaline is the recommended first line treatment in anaphylaxis . Confusion arises because systemic allergic reactions can be mild, moderate, or severe. ... Inappropriate use of adrenaline may be dangerous. Most adverse events with adrenaline usage occur when it is given in overdose or intravenously.

But in mild allergic conditions eg anaphylactic shocks, and in asthmatic attacks adrenaline is given in subcutaneous route to slowly dissolve it with blood ,so that the Blood pressure is not raised but the allergy is taken care of. ... therefore it is only given by IM route in anaphylactic shock.
