ȯ During charging by conduction, both objects acquire the same type of charge. ... In this case, electrons are transferred from the neutral object to the positively charged rod and the sphere becomes charged positively.

  1. When two different materials are rubbed together, there is a transfer of electrons from one material to the other material.
  2. This causes one object to become positively charged (the electron loser) and the other object to become negatively charged (the electron gainer).
